Annapurna Circuit, Nepal
Flight into the Mountains
In Kathmandu
I chose this trek as it was supposed to be quite nice. Its ancient paths were used as trade routes between Nepal and Tibet. I tore an ankle mucle getting up here, which has never quite healed properly. Magnificent view of the Annapurna Mountain in the background which is 8091m high. I was scheduled to fly into the mountains in a light aircraft but winter had just iced over the runway. So had to wait a few days to get a seat on this Russian built and piloted helicopter which was taking supplies into the mountains. The flight was from here (Pokhara) to Jomsom in the Annapurna Circuit. I was VERY scared flying over those huge mountains and coudn't wait to land. Went on the roof of my hotel in Kathmandu and asked a porter to take my photo. Thought it would be good to get a photo of me with a bit of a beard.

Nepalese Wedding
I met a Nepalese man through Jeff in Sydney who said if your up this way around my wedding time, come and visit. So I organised my itinerary so I could attend the wedding. I borrowed a jacket, and bought shirt and a tie for the occasion which I couldn't hire (didn't quite fit). The wedding ceremony was at the womans (parents) house and once finished all the gifts including bed and furniture is tied to the top of a big bus full of the guests and paraded down the street to his house. I was the only westerner there. How luck was I. The rituals were facinating. Kishor chose Junu from photos his parents provided him, in this arranged, in sorts, wedding.
