The Atomic bomb dropped over Hiroshima was detonated directly above this building. Because of the characteristics of the explosion, this building (one of the few) which remained standing. The locals were very friendly here to me, more so than in the rest of Japan, which surprised me as I thought I would be viewed as being from the evil west.	Origami paper Cranes are made and placed by the memorial as a symbol of long life. If you click on the photo, a larger image of the plaque appears to help read it better.	Travelled 1st class around Japan on these fast 'Bullet' trains. Had swivelling seats, free coffee served and newspapers. I was often the only one in the carraige. It was very smooth.
